Day 3 – A Photo That Makes Me Happy
August 3, 2011 | 30 Day Blog Challenge
Most of the time, I hate the way I look in pictures. I’m very self-critical of my hair or what I am wearing. I notice my round face, my droopy left eye and how everyone else in the picture looks better than I do.
My sister once told me how to take a good picture. It was something about sticking out your chin and lifting it up a little bit, sucking in your stomach, sit up or stand up straight and then smile big. I’ve never been able to pull it off like she does. She looks amazing in almost every picture taken of her.
I love this picture. It was taken at my 40th birthday party. I don’t even know why I was laughing at the time. I was trying to take a nice picture with my kids. Maybe one of them said something funny. Maybe it was the 4th time we tried to get this picture and I blew it.
Okay, maybe I had a little too much to drink. I really don’t remember.
But this picture represents how I love to live my life – happy and surrounded by people I love and having the time of my life.
This picture shows that I was having a great day. On days that are not so great, I look at this picture and remember that there are more good times ahead. More Kodak moments to capture. My hair looks nice. My face looks thinner. My eyes are squinted in laughter so that you can’t see my droopy left eye. My kids and I are so happy.
And I look great.
